Pre-History: Just a quick note to add about the history of our organization prior to its certification as an independent Forum of ASCM. In the early years, a group of ASCM members from businesses along the lakeshore were participating as a satellite group of the Fox Valley Chapter. Members would carpool or caravan from the lakeshore to Appleton to attend monthly meetings and events. This is why you may notice a lot of Shoreline members that have been part of ASCM longer than the actual Shoreline Forum itself has existed. We can be thankful for that original group of pioneering souls that saw the advantages that an organization along the lakeshore could have to both businesses and professionals working in the lakeshore area. I am still looking for information that can tell the story of those earliest years of the Fox Valley and Shoreline group’s creation. Please feel free to share any information you have about this time.
OK, now back to recorded history.
In the 1992-93 fiscal year, our group lost and gained a few members but overall grew in membership by 13, moving up to 113 regular members. The group retained Hamilton Industries as a corporate member and also gained 3 additional Corporate Memberships. Jagemann Stamping joined at the beginning of the 92-93 fiscal year and Kohler Co and Manitowoc Engineering joined at the end of the 91-92 fiscal year. Kohler in April of 1992 and Manitowoc in May of 1992.
Eight monthly development meetings were held September through April and averaged and amazing 72 attendees at each. An end of year joint meeting was held in May, with the Fox Valley Chapter and had 233 attendees at the American Club in Kohler. Some of the speakers that presented during the year were; Randall Schaefer, David W Malm, Sr. Product Engineer at Horton Mfg Co., Tom Jadin, and Joseph Papp of Joseph Papp Consulting.
The meetings were held at many of the typical locations like Klemme’s, the Inn on Maritime Bay, Richards, and the Holiday Inn with the year-end finale being held at the American Club.
The Board of directors continues to retain 12-14 members with monthly meetings through the year at various locations including LTC, Coachlite, and some of the local business locations such as Eggers and Mayline. We were also able to send members to three regional APICS meetings this year including one shared charter flight to Flint Michigan with the Fox Valley Chapter.
The Chapter was also honored to be able to provide $400 scholarships to Toni Stolzman and Scott Schurrer for studies in the field of supply chain.
Again, I will ask that if you have any information regarding the formative years of our organization, please feel free to share them with me. I can change any names you like to protect your innocence.
Regards,
