Eric has worked as the Plant Manager for Boortmalt USA since 2014 when the plant was malting for Cargill Inc. Prior to 2014, he worked as the EHS Manager for 7 years with Land O’Lakes Inc in Denmark WI, and Kiel WI.
About the Presentation:
Eric will highlight story of Boortmalt, where they came from and where they are going. The plant first started malting in 1856. In the early days it was floor malting, and it would take several employees hours to turn the barley by hand.
Today they have equipment that helps us move the barley through the process. Capt. Pabst would bring his ship to the shores of Sheboygan to pick up finished barley, Malt. From the top of their silos, you can see for miles on a clear day, the area around the plant now covered with houses, at one time were fields full of Barley waiting to become Malt.
